Some outside event may seem to have caused an idea to burst into sudden bloom-but really the seed was planted much earlier and had been growing quietly inside my psyche for a long time. I hear people say things like: “As I watched the sunset, I suddenly had an idea.” I wish it were that easy for me. This can appear to have happened suddenly. A deep internal emotion may push its way to the top to be framed and put into words, colors or music. The outside may be an intellectual process or a quick, superficial impression that pushes a submerged emotion to the surface. No doubt, what is outside and what is inside are the basic elements in constructing a story, in creating a painting, or in composing a piece of music. I found that to be a fairly accurate and perceptive assessment. ![]() One child, who wrote to me, asked this question, then went on to tell me that ideas come from both your outside and your inside. ![]() “Where do ideas come from?” is an often-asked question that cannot be easily answered. ![]() ![]() ![]() The thing that truly makes it great is the absolute intricacy of it all. Starting with Captain America #1, Ed Brubaker began spinning an extensive plot involving the Red Skull, Cap’s old partner Bucky (now returned as the murderous and insane Winter Soldier), Arnim Zola, the Red Skull’s daughter Sin, Crossbones, Doctor Faustus, and Sharon Carter, all resulting in the death of Cap and his replacement by Bucky. What most people don’t know is how we got to that point, or what it truly meant. ![]() So before you go pick up the mini-series Reborn, you should definitely go and read all of the previous 50 issues of Captain America first.Įveryone knows by now that Captain America died. But how did we get to this point? Who was the man that dared put a gun at Cap’s head and pull the trigger? That man is Ed Brubaker, and he reinvigorated Captain America in a way I would have never thought possible. We don’t know how yet, or in what capacity, but just as many heroes consistently rise from the grave, so will the true Captain America. ![]() By now, everyone knows that all the rumors about Reborn are true: Steve Rogers is coming back. ![]() ![]() ![]() I have also created this mini-anchor chart for my students to glue in their notebook. ![]() Don’t forget that young readers are still new to the idea that “reading is thinking.” As their teachers, we have to help them understand how readers think about the text.Īs I share what it means to infer, I make an anchor chart with my students to display in the room. ![]() I tell them this means reading closely to notice things the author may not specifically tell them. The ants are then thrown into a dangerous boiling brown lake (coffee) and they visit several other scary places in the kitchen before returning safely home. Reason and hu0man instinct help humans attempt to solve their problems. Milton portraits a view that Man has the free will to either choose or reject obedience to God and by doing so, Man is made responsible for his decisions to serve either Satan or God. Milton fundamentally undermines the conventional thought of double predestination, by denying the continuation of any divine ruling of reprobation, and by affirming instead that “reprobation is a temporal and provisional act of the human will, by which some human beings – in spite of their election – freely choose and actualize their own condemnation.” Free Will of Adam and Eve Paradise Lost (1667) of John Milton portraits a highly creative principle of predestination that was constructed in the 17 th century showing both the free will and the universality of electing elegance, and the divinely decisive function of human freedom in salvation. ![]() ![]() The fields to the west of the farm leading to Smalley, are also still identified on all ordnance survey maps as "Simonfields".
